Authorized Army of Knowledge Online Personnel
To begin the DKO (Army of Knowledge Online) account registration process, you must be an authorized user approved by the USA military. Users able to create new AKO accounts include Marine Corps Reserve, Active Air Force, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, Air Force Civilian, Active Navy, Coast Guard Civilian, Coast Guard Reserve, DoD Civilian, Active Coast Guard, Navy Reserve, Navy Civilian, and Active Marine Corps. If you meet these criteria, you will be able to create an DKO Webmail account.

Please note, the creation of a DKO account requires a Common Access Card (CAC) reader.You will also be required to validate your Social Security Number and Date of Birth during the login process.

DKO Webmail Account Registration
To Register a new AKO account follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://www.us.army.mil
  2. Find and click on the “Register for DKO (CAC Required)” button
  3. Find and click on the “Create Joint Account” button

Common Access Card Registration with AKO/DKO
To Register a new CAC follow these steps:

  1. Log into AKO/DKO with your username and password. If you are having issues with your password, visit our AKO Webmail Password Reset Page
  2. Click on “Quick Links”
  3. Click on “CAC”
  4. Click on “My CAC Information”
  5. Next, click on “Clear Registered Information”. This option will clear all the old CAC information and allow you to register a new CAC. If you have clicked on the “Clear Registered Information” link and don’t see the “Register” button, click on the “Clear Registered Information” again.
  6. Finally, click on the “Register” button.
  7. Select your digital certificate. This certificate is based on the type of CAC you have. If you have multiple certificates, you will need to need to select the one that matches your CAC.
  8. When the prompt comes up, enter the PIN for your CAC.
  9. When the prompt comes up, enter your AKO/DKO password.
  10. Click on “register my Certificate”.
